Energy efficiency lessons
Exploring energy efficiency using your Power-Mate Lite meter
Ausgrid has developed a series of lessons and experiments for high school students that use a Power-Mate Lite Meter (or other branded electricity meter) to explore concepts relating to energy efficiency.
The lessons align with Stage 5 outcomes of the NSW Board of Studies Science Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum and cover the following topics.
- Lesson 1 – Research project – Home energy audit
- Lesson 2 – Experiment – Energy efficiency in transformations
- Lesson 3 – Experiment – Energy transformations in light globes

Exploring energy efficiency using your Thermoelectric Generator
The Department of Education has developed a series of inquiry based lessons and activities for high school students that use the Thermoelectric Generator to explore how waste heat can be turned into electrical energy.
The lessons align with Stage 4 & 5 outcomes of the NSW Board of Studies Science Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum and are set out using an inquiry based approach by incorporating the 5es - engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate.
